Company: Biology and geology corporation, France A fleet of seven luxury coaches introduced the visitors to the 3.7 billion years of geology of Western Australia, some 800km north of Perth. At Shark Bay they spent three hours at Hamelin Pool to study the stromatolites (the world's oldest living organisms) before meeting the scientists studying the dolphins at Monkey Mia. In Central Australia, they met some indigenous Australians whose ancestors had lived there for 40,000 years and discovered how local plants are used for medical and survival purposes. They enjoyed a commentary on the constellations under a billion star bright night sky and inspected a meteorite crater. In Sydney, the guests boarded three chartered catamarans for a lunch cruise and racing under sail on the spectacular Harbour. The World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains was the setting for a photography contest. In Tropical North Queensland, the Great Barrier Reef was the colourful palate for a reef survey and they received information about the protection of the environment in a high conservation value area. Winding up the experience at a gala dinner at a Queensland cattle station, the event was judged the best meeting the organisation had organised in its 30 year history.
