Adelaide as a natural extension

Gilpin Travel Management wanted to show Adelaide as a different type of Australian experience and a new type of incentive destination - a destination that goes well beyond the sun, sea and sand often offered to corporate clients.

Gilpin’s Account Manager Tessa Anderson said there are plenty of inspiring options in destinations that corporate clients may not have previously thought about.

“We used Adelaide in February and the approach was about taking people out to experience South Australia. For example, in the Barossa Valley we offered three different tours,” she said.

The group’s tours focused on the food and wine that is making South Australia a stand-out Australian destination, with a visit to Maggie Beer’s, a winery tour that focused not just on tasting, but also on blending and education, and a cycling tour of wineries that allowed delegate to ride at their own pace.

“[The trip included] a number of special touches, including our arrival at the InterContinental Hotel by boat on the Torrens River,” Tessa said.

“We also held a function on the terrace of the hotel, with wine and food stations and knowledgeable staff on hand to share information about the different wines being served.”
