The Victorian High Country

Day 1: Only an hour from Melbourne’s CBD, the Dandenong Ranges are an idyllic mountain retreat. Ride on Australia’s oldest steam railway to see incredible views over Melbourne and Port Phillip Bay. Continue to the Yarra Valley, one of the world’s great wine growing regions, and explore over 55 wineries and a number of breweries. Stop for lunch at one of the many restaurants, then get up close and personal with Australian wildlife at Healesville Sanctuary.

Day 2: Start the day at dawn floating over forests, farms, and vines in a hot air balloon before a breakfast of sparkling wine and local produce at a winery. Continue onto the picturesque Lake Eildon for morning tea and cast a fishing line, ride on the back of a boat, or take a brisk bushwalk around the lake. Journey on the heart of Victoria’s High Country, Mansfield, home of Victoria's traditional cattlemen and an adventure sports haven. Continue up to Mt Buller and settle in overnight in front of a roaring fire at one of the many alpine lodges.

Day 3: Take a morning walk in the mountains then drive through spectacular Milawa and King Valley to meet the wine and cheese makers at intimate, authentic wineries and produce stores. Roam around historic Beechworth, Australia’s best preserved historic gold rush town with more than 30 National Trust-listed buildings dating back to the 1850’s, before arriving at border town of Albury-Wodonga to experience the mighty Murray River as it winds through a magnificent unspoiled landscape of rolling valleys, hills and lush farmlands.
