Activity includes brand and content marketing, educational visits, trade engagement and events that allow the Australian business events industry to meet with qualified buyers to grow their business.  Tourism Australia targets business events planners and decision makers with a focus on core international markets which represent the greatest return on investment.   These core markets include Greater China, New Zealand, North America, United Kingdom and Europe.

Attracting business events to Australia

Tourism Australia supports the Australian business events industry through its marketing and distribution development activities, including the Advance Program which supports delegate acquisition activities for existing international business events taking place in Australia.

From 1 July 2018, Tourism Australia will extend its existing support of the Australian business events industry through the Boosting Business Events Bid Fund Program (BFP), which provides assistance to secure new international business events for Australia.

Boosting Business Events Australia Bid Fund Program

Managed by Tourism Australia’s business events unit, Business Events Australia, the Boosting Business Events Bid Fund Program (BFP) is designed to increase the conversion of new international business events for Australia through the offer of financial support at the critical bidding stage. The BFP is designed to deliver conversion of new business in situations where Australia is in consideration against international competitors for the right to host the business event.

The BFP supports expenditure on goods and services within Australia for the purposes of delivering confirmed, qualified business events.

Applications for the BFP open 1 May 2018.

Advance Program

The Advance Program offers the opportunity to leverage Tourism Australia’s international marketing expertise to grow the number and value of business events for Australia, and to deliver best-practice marketing to grow international delegate visitation to confirmed international business events taking place in Australia.
