InterContinental Hayman Island Resort, The Whitsundays, QLD
Located in the Whitsundays and available for exclusive hire, the 166-room InterContinental Hayman Island Resort opens its doors on the 1 July 2019 after undergoing a multi-million-dollar redevelopment.
Location, location, location
Hayman Island is one of 74 islands that make up the Whitsundays and one of only four that offer resort accommodation. Located in the Great Barrier Reef, the 400 hectares/988-acre private island provides guests with easy access to Heart Reef and one of the best beaches in the world, Whitehaven Beach.
The AUD 100 million transformation of InterContinental Hayman Island Resort is vast, so here are our highlights.
- The Beach Wing has 16 new retreat rooms, each with an outdoor shower and private courtyard. While an additional 11 suites have been added to the Pool Wing. But what you may not know, is that you can book an entire wing of the resort for a semi-exclusive event.
- The Hayman Spa has been completely refurbished. The Spa features 13 treatment rooms and a range of wellness experiences such as clean-eating meal plans, sunrise yoga and meditation classes – all of which can be incorporated into your event.
- A bevy of restaurants and bars have been added to the resort’s portfolio, including the Pacific, which features an outdoor terrace with spectacular ocean views. The restaurant, available for exclusive hire, has a modern Australian menu and can accommodate up to 220 guests seated inside and 40 on the terrace.
- The resort boasts a range of new experiences for groups including a stand up paddleboard tour of Hayman Island’s hidden coves, a team challenge to test guests mentally and physically with a series of activities on land and in water, and our favourite - a seaplane flight over popular reefs including Bait, Hook, Hardy and Heart Reef before landing in the coral fringed Hardy Lagoon to snorkel.
