Held from 3 to 6 December 2017 in Brisbane, Tourism Australia’s signature incentive product showcase Dreamtime demonstrated the depth of Australia’s creativity, capability and innovation when delivering incentive experiences. Here’s just a small taste of what incentive planners from around the world experienced in the host state, Queensland.
Vegan cuisine has never tasted this good. Experience standout service coupled with the freshest organic ingredients sourced in Australia matched with delicious local wines at Urbane, Queensland’s only “three-hat” restaurant. Led by internationally acclaimed chef Alejandro Cancino whose rap sheet includes Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons in Britain, Bulgari Hotel in Tokyo and Noma in Copenhagen, Urbane is perfect for hosting an intimate dining experience that will really surprise.
Cancino will whip up a bespoke degustation experience – which can be completely vegan. He doesn’t cater just for “herbivores” though, he can also put together a delicious “omnivore” menu using locally farmed proteins and seafood. Comitted to highlighting the best parts of Australian produce, Cancino experiments with Australian bush foods like lilly pillies and works with more than 50 organic farmers each week to bring the paddock (or patch as it were) to your plate. Guests can feast on vegan delights like sesame cheese and even honey harvested on-site from a beehive on the roof of the restaurant.
Your own private Reef experience
Dive deep into one of the natural wonders of the world by spending a day on a private hire pontoon in the Great Barrier Reef. Leaving from Cairns or Port Douglas, charter a cruise or take groups out by chopper to see the spectacular gardens of coral, native marine life and overall beauty that cements the Reef’s place as an Australian treasure.
Guests can choose their own adventure upon their arrival at the pontoon – they can get up close and personal with the marine life by opting to scuba dive or snorkel or if staying dry is the preference, why not take a scenic helicopter ride around the Reef or enjoy the underwater observatory. If guests wish to learn about the Reef and its protected wildlife, a marine biologist can be a personal guide throughout the day.
Bring your imagination to life
There is something magical about hosting an event surrounded by art. If you want to create the unforgettable, the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) has a range of spaces that can bring the seemingly impossible event strategist’s creative vision into reality. The Gallery’s Watermall achieved just that at the Dreamtime 2017 Dinner where 264 guests were treated to a specially created multi-sensory experience.
Seated right in the heart of Narcissus Garden 1966/2002, an iconic floating art installation by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, guests dined at long tables lined with in-built LED lights that changed in sequence with performances. Local artist Sophia Mary Mac created a piece of digital art inspired by events of the Dreamtime 2017 programme which was projected upon the Watermall’s 24 metre by 9.5 metre feature wall as guests enjoyed a contemporary Australian three-course meal prepared in-house.
