ING Antai awards at the Opera HouseThere were tears of joy and excitement at the Sydney Opera House when this world famous building hosted the Taiwan-based ING Antai Award Presentation.
Company: ING Antai, Taiwan The 2,000 insurance agents arrived in their ball gowns and dinner suits around midday and were still cheering as the sun set over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The energy was even higher than usual because the previous year the entire presentation was postponed due to last minute changes in the program. The company has some 12,000 agents across Taiwan and this group comprised of only the top performers. A high point was the announcement of Wu Chen Chiang as the company's top achiever for the year. It was preceded by a video showing Mr Wu undertaking activities around Sydney, arriving on a Harley Davidson motorcycle at the Opera House and playing a round of golf, all set to high-energy music. After being congratulated by chief executive PY Chan, Mr Wu stole the hearts of the audience by bringing his mother on stage and falling to his knees to thank her for her contribution to his success. There was also an Australian flavour to the celebrations with a variety of acts to break up the awards ceremony, including the Human Rhythms drumming experience which had dozens of the delegates to the beat, working together as one united force. Lee Wood, senior vice-president and chief marketing officer for the company, said the opportunity to hold their awards ceremony in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House was the clincher that decided Sydney as the destination for their event. The awards ceremony has a tradition of featuring top performers from Taiwan and it was the turn of Fei Yu Ching to take the spotlight and a standing ovation from the audience, many of whom were wearing name badges with sparkly lights. The agents were on five or seven day travel packages, which were determined by their achievements over the financial year, with top performers having the opportunity to bring their spouses. These included travel days, with the agents having effectively three and five full days in Sydney. The awards day provided the biggest logistical issues due to the amount of activities that needed to be included. The result was lunch being served at 10.30am at a variety of Sydney Chinese restaurants, before heading off to the Opera House for the photo shoot. That night the guests took to Sydney Harbour in a fleet of luxury cruisers for dinner, a spectacular fireworks show and to toast their success. |
