Rainforest, Food and Wine

Day 1: You’ll feel the warmth of tropical north Queensland the moment you step off the plane! After settling into your hotel, take relaxing walk around the city, including the Esplanade precinct with its marina, boardwalk, and popular swimming lagoon. This evening, a welcome BBQ dinner is held by the pool at your hotel.

Day 2: Spend the morning gliding above stunning rainforests and the glittering waters of the Coral Sea on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, then head to Kuranda for some relaxing wanderings around local arts, crafts and produce in the famous village in the rainforest. Visit the nearby Rainforestation Nature Park for lunch and a choice of activities, before heading to 'The Billabong' - a spectacular event venue that contains both tropical rainforest and outback savannah. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink and a relaxing dinner in the natural timber saloon.

Day 3: You may choose an early start with a bird’s-eye view of the Atherton Tablelands from a hot air balloon before heading to one of the seven natural wonders of the world: the Great Barrier Reef. How you experience it is up to you: see the Reef from above on a scenic helicopter ride, a semi-submersible tour, by scuba diving, or by just relaxing in the sun. This evening, dinner will be at either the heritage-listed Cruise Liner Terminal, the Tanks Arts Centre or the Cairns Regional Gallery.

Day 4: Optional: Head off on the Cairns Highlands Food and Wine trail – a day of indulgence for the taste buds. Follow a food journey as diverse as the landscapes you’ll visit: from dry plains, rolling hills and lush rainforest, you’ll sample treats from family farms and private plantations, including wineries, cheese and chocolate factories and boutique coffee estates. Finish off all the gastronomy with a local meal in Cairns.
