Explore Capital Country
: Travel by limousine to the gracious art deco Hyatt Hotel Canberra. This afternoon it’s off for a ‘backroom’ tour through the corridors of power at Parliament House followed by cocktails in the Senate Leader’s Suite. Fine dining in the Great Hall at Parliament House completes a stately afternoon.
Day 2: Breakfast will be an unforgettable experience when it’s shared with a cheetah. Feast on gourmet picnic baskets followed by the chance to pet, and feed, the big cats and bears at Canberra’s National Zoo and Aquarium. Head out of town for an Aussie outback lunch at Poacher’s Pantry then return to town for dusk at the Carillon. Sample a variety of cold climate wines from the Canberra region while viewing the spectacular views across the city and to the mountains beyond. Tonight, the inner child comes out, with dinner at Questacon and its fun interactive exhibits.
Day 3: See dawn break over the city and kangaroos grazing among the eucalypts as you drift serenely over the city in a hot air balloon. Once you’ve landed, it’s a breakfast with a bush food flavour at the National Museum of Australia followed by a guided tour with the curator of the Museum’s Indigenous exhibition. You and your team can then test your fitness with Olympic assessors at the Australian Institute of Sport and, after lunch here, head a little further afield to the Tidbinbilla Tracking Station – a major link in NASA’s Deep Space Network. An astronomer will explain the secrets of the skies and the role Australia played in getting man to the moon.
Day 4: Enjoy a leisurely waterside breakfast at The Deck Restaurant, followed by a farewell bike ride along the scenic foreshore paths winding around Lake Burley Griffin.
