About The Electric Mine Conference series
The Electric Mine Conference is the world’s only global and fastest growing mine electrification event. As the mining industry works towards a net-zero future, International Mining Events (IME) created the conference series to provide an essential platform for all businesses involved in the mine electrification transition to showcase future-proofed solutions that will enable mining companies to achieve their emission targets by 2050.
Why Perth
IME chose Perth, Western Australia as the host city for its 2024 event as it is global hub for many of the world’s top mining headquarters, major contractors, and cutting-edge technology leaders.
Perth is also situated relatively close to the major Pilbara iron ore mining hub where many of the world’s first ultra-class battery haul trucks are set to be tested, and the Goldfields region where the latest underground battery units are being used.
IME received support from the Western Australian State government through Business Events Perth to hold the event in the state’s capital city.
“Australia is probably one of the frontrunners in the mining electrification space. Some of the biggest mining equipment that's going to be electrified is being tested here and it’s got some of the most mining expertise across the globe.”
- Daniel Gleeson, Director at International Mining Events Ltd
Focus on a net-zero future
Having already held three successful events, IME brought The Electric Mine Conference to Australia for the first time in 2024, hosting the event at Crown Perth.
The three-day conference welcomed more than 900 attendees and firmly focused on the practicalities of electrifying mobile mining equipment and decarbonising the mining industry’s global operations. It brought together original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), service suppliers, solution providers and mining companies to highlight new projects, ideas and approaches in tackling the electrification transition.
For the first time, the 2024 event also hosted an equipment showcase, highlighting a new range of electric mining machinery. There were also more panel sessions than previous years to encourage further thought leadership discussions.
“This is the first event we have done at such a big scale and having a venue like Crown that allows us to bring an event that is even bigger than the last one and a city that allows for that growth to happen has been fantastic. The level of our speakers, the content of our talks is very important to us. We want to make sure that people get value from it.”
- Fern Morton, Event Manager at International Mining
A lasting legacy
As the mining industry continues to pave its way towards a net-zero future, it stands at the forefront of a transformative era, characterised by innovation, sustainability and responsibility.
However, while reaching net-zero goals is only going to benefit all stakeholders, it will not be a quick transition, which is why The Electric Mine conference is so important. With many mining companies and mining technology providers having pledged to go net-zero, The Electric Mine event plays an important part in helping them towards that transition and leaving a lasting legacy, for local communities and various stakeholders that are affected by mining.
Having a platform like The Electric Mine which showcases advanced technologies, encourages a forward-thinking approach, and fosters collaborative efforts across the global mining community, ensures that mining will continue to be a vital part of the global economy, contributing to a sustainable future for generations to come.
