It’s home to the first two mines in the world to use fully remote-controlled trucks – guided from an operations centre in the city.

Western Australia is world’s largest lithium producer and has among the largest reserves in the world for all battery minerals.

Perth is a founding member of the World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP). Established in 1995, this partnership of 19 international cities worldwide promotes the exchange of industry knowledge, research, economic development strategies and expertise within the energy sector for a more sustainable future.

Eight of the world’s top fourteen international energy companies have their head office in Perth, making it Australia’s largest concentration of global oil and gas company headquarters.

Health and Medical Life Sciences

The WA Life Sciences hub is one of the four Western Australia Government Innovation Hubs that deliver programs to connect the innovation community to build capacity and new skills.

With a history of delivering world-first innovation such as spray-on-skin, Perth’s health and medical life sciences industry continues to flourish thanks to the support of an innovative community that includes universities and medical research institutes.

Development of the Murdoch Health & Knowledge Precinct is currently underway, located within walking distance to two hospitals and a university. The precinct will be home to health research, medical care, and higher education.
