Groups exploring the Southern Highlands, two hours south of Sydney, can take an immersive journey to learn, experience and sample the plants growing wild in this nature bound region. Amanda Fry, founder of Experience Nature leads groups along her personal foraging trails where guests discover seasonal plants. Find, harvest and make teas locally from common ingredients such as elderflower, stinging nettle and hawthorn and learn about the power of foraged brews and tea rituals. Meet Byron from Trolley’d who will introduce you to seasonal native plants important to Indigenous culture such as sarsaparilla, Lilli Pilli, finger limes, lemon myrtle, river mint, wild dandelion root. Taste yabbies from the local dam. Wrap the experience with a tasting of local spirits from Southern Highland distilleries and a cocktail masterclass led by Byron using the freshly foraged plants.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) has unveiled CANVAS, a dynamic new concept restaurant with views over Circular Quay and Sydney Harbour. Located in the Rocks, CANVAS brings together art and cuisine curated by a rotating Chef-in-Residence. Guests savour ever-evolving seasonal menus that deliver the finest local produce with a flair of culinary creativity for a dining experience evocative of an exhibition. Light woods and neutral tones alongside bespoke furnishings create a timeless space. By day, a fine dining restaurant with capacity for 85 guests seated inside and 48 outside, at night CANVAS transforms into an event space with the capacity for up to 300 guests for a cocktail event. MCA's rooftop venues and event spaces have also been beautifully refurbished, offering contemporary and versatile spaces alongside breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour.
