The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)
The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)
Sport is central to Australia’s identity — we watch it, play it, celebrate our mateship and elite athletes. At the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra, groups of 10 can tour the cutting-edge facilities with an Australian athlete, gain insights into elite training and get access to Sportex, an interactive space where guests can test their skills across a range of dynamic displays — shooting hoops, kicking a footy, trying snowboarding and more — while discovering defining moments in Australia’s sporting history. Through Cultural Attractions of Australia the Australian Institute of Sport can tailor the experience, including customised formats for larger groups, delivering an unforgettable immersion into the world of elite sport.
Sunrise Journeys
Sunrise Journeys
Rise before dawn and embrace the cool desert air for a spectacular sunrise experience. Sunrise Journeys is an immersive Indigenous light, laser, and sound show celebrating connection to Country. Witness a bespoke modern Indigenous artwork created by three renowned female Anangu artists - Selina Kulitja (Maruku Arts), Denise Brady (Kaltukatjara Art), and Valerie Brumby (Walkatjara Art) as it unfolds across a giant desert canvas, transforming the natural landscape into a state-of-the-art animation. Titled Ngura Nganampa Wiru Mulapa (“Our Country is truly beautiful” in Pitjantjatjara), the piece tells a contemporary story of their shared connection to these lands, central to Anangu culture. Accompanied by a musical score from local Anangu musician Jeremy Whiskey, this storytelling experience leads into nature’s ultimate display — Uluṟu glowing ember-red at dawn. The experience includes a nourishing breakfast that heroes native ingredients and can be booked for groups of up to 120 guests.
